Building AI the World Can Actually Trust

At the recent ATxSummit here in Singapore, I had the pleasure of interviewing Professor Yoshua Bengio — Turing Award-winning scientist and the first living scholar to pass one million Google Scholar citations. (I gather this tally is beaten only by Michel Foucault, but what has he written lately?)

As AI systems become more capable, autonomous, and embedded in our lives, choices being made now by researchers, companies, and governments may prove difficult — perhaps impossible — to unwind.

Few voices carry more authority on this than Yoshua: one of the architects of modern AI, and now one of its most thoughtful critics.

In this fireside conversation, we discuss the 2026 International AI Safety Report, his upcoming work as Co-chair of the UN’s new International Scientific Panel, and what it will take to build AI systems that are not merely powerful, but worthy of trust.

For leaders shaping the future of AI, getting this right shouldn’t be optional, should it?
